MANAGEMENT INFORMATION SYSTEM (MIS)

        Tan Cang – Long Binh ICD is one of the largest ICD in Vietnam. The application of MIS meets the demand for managing the operations similar to other container terminals in the world.  

 

 

■ MIS follows the standard, strict, updating procedure ensuring the accuracy in managing, reporting process and providing information service for partners (including shipping lines, agents, shippers, Customs, etc) via local network, website. The system of Warehouse Management System (WMS), Container Management System (CMS), Optical Character Recognition (OCR), the CCTV IP technology are being applied in Tan Cang – Long Binh ICD.  

 
■ The operation and management is highly effective, which supports for the management and administration of the whole company.
 
■ The MIS can be extended to other premises of Saigon Newport Holding Company such as Cai Mep, Van Phong, Hai Phong, etc. the MIS strongly supports for extension projects in Port operation and other relating services.

■ Currently, Saigon Newport Holding Company has built up comprehensive MIS which is stable and long run operation satisfying the demand for effective and updated information, services for clients of different departments in the company. Specifically, the LAN system has been set up at operation offices and other areas where information is needed to be provided as quick as possible; more than 230 computers, 5 servers (IBM xSeries -235 / xSeries -236) are specialized for updating data, 1 server used for administrating the Internet, building up wireless system of Tan Cang – Cat Lai – Song Than have been deployed.

       Besides developing the MIS, IT staffs are also enriched their skill and technical knowledge, which supports for improving the procedure of container delivery, creating the break-through step to the operation. With dynamic team of young, knowledgeable staffs, Saigon Newport Holding Company are moving on the way of positioning itself in the map of the leading container operator in the world.

       Within the period of 2005 – 2010, Saigon Newport continues to complete the MIS, namely extending the wireless system of Tan Cang – Cat Lai – Song Than – Nhon Trach, putting Handheld system into operation supporting for importing and exporting shipment, enhancing the dispatch capacity, CY delivery management, and satisfying the customers’ demand; supporting for distance management via email, website, camera system, video conference, VoiceIP. The information exchange service via web with partners through common format such as EDI, XML, Databases, etc. base on the grounds of electric trade law of Vietnam. Hope that in the modernization process, Saigon Newport Holding Company will be the leading unit in applying MIS in managing and operating port.
